Front fender (arrows indicate the location of the mounting bolts)
1 - Fixing bolt; 2 - Wing; A and B - Places for applying sealant
The front fenders are attached to the body frame with eight M6x16 bolts. The bolt holes in the landing flanges of the wings are oval in shape, which allows you to adjust the position of the panels relative to the surrounding body elements. The mating surfaces of the landing flanges of the wings are covered with a sealant.
Removing
1. Disconnect the wiring going to the direction indicator and fog lights (if they are installed).
2. Remove the front bumper (see Section Removal and installation of a forward bumper).
3. Give one of two M6 bolts of fastening of a loop of a cowl, at the same time used for fastening of a wing.
4. Turn out the remained seven fixing bolts.
5. Using a screwdriver, separate the upper part of the wing from the body frame. Also separate the bottom of the panel from the A-pillar.
Note. The sealant may continue to hold the panel firmly enough after the fasteners are released, which is associated with the risk of damage to the panel during its dismantling. In view of the foregoing, the removal of the wing should be carried out only in case of really serious damage to it, when there is no other way to eliminate the defect.
Installation
1. Treat the fender on the inside with an anti-corrosion compound.
2. Clean the mating surfaces of the mounting flanges, completely removing traces of old sealant from them.
3. Restore damaged factory anti-corrosion coating.
4. Lubricate the mating surfaces of the mounting flanges with a coat of fresh sealant.
5. Install the fender on the car and secure it with bolts, while not completely tightening the latter.
6. Close the hood and front doors, then visually check the gaps between the wing and the surrounding body panels. Make appropriate adjustments if necessary. If you cannot achieve a satisfactory result by moving the wing, try adjusting the hood.
7. Tighten all mounting bolts firmly.
8. Reinstall the direction indicator.
9. Restore the original wiring connection.
