Hood lock release drive
1 - Axis; 2 - Lever; 3 - Bushing; 4 - Cable sheath; 5 - Cable; 6 - Loop; 7 - Castle
Removal
1. Remove the hood lock assembly (see section Removal, installation and adjustment of the hood lock assembly).
2. The components of the hood release drive assembly are shown in the illustration.
3. Moving along the cable, release it from the intermediate clamps. Try to remember the route of the cable. Release the cable from the rubber bushing of the engine compartment bulkhead and tie a thin cord to it.
4. In the passenger compartment, under the instrument panel, release the cable end from its support bracket, then remove the lever pivot pin.
5. Remove the lever assembly with the cable from its seat (try not to lose the bushing) and remove it from the car. Leaving the cord threaded through the bulkhead, untie the end of the drive cable from it. Check the condition of the bushing, replace it if necessary.
Installation
1. Make sure the rubber grommet is fitted onto the cable assembly, then tie the end of the cable to the cord left threaded through the bulkhead and pull it into the engine compartment.
2. Insert the end of the cable sheath into the support bracket and secure the lock release actuator lever with the axle pin. Make sure that the bushing is seated correctly in the engine compartment bulkhead, then untie the cord from the cable.
3. Making sure the cable is routed correctly, secure it in the intermediate clamps, then install the lock assembly in place (see section Removal, installation and adjustment of the hood lock assembly).
