Hood release drive
1 - Axis; 2 - Lever; 3 - Bushing; 4 - Rope sheath; 5 - Cable; 6 - Loop; 7 - Castle
Removing
1. Remove the hood latch assembly (see Section Removal, installation and adjustment of assembly of the lock of a cowl).
2. Components of assembly of a drive of release of the lock of a cowl are presented on an illustration.
3. Moving along the cable, release it from the intermediate clamps. Try to remember the route of laying the cable. Release the cable from the rubber grommet of the bulkhead of the engine compartment and tie a thin cord to it.
4. In the passenger compartment under the instrument panel, release the tip of the cable from its support bracket, then remove the axial pin of the lever.
5. Remove the cable arm assembly from its seat (try not to lose the bushing) and remove it from the vehicle. Leaving the cord threaded through the bulkhead, untie the end of the drive cable from it. Check the condition of the bushing, replace if necessary.
Installation
1. Make sure that the rubber bushing is put on the cable assembly, then tie the end of the latter to the cord left threaded through the bulkhead and pull it into the engine compartment.
2. Insert the tip of the cable sheath into the support bracket and secure the lock release actuating lever with the axle pin. Make sure that the bushing is correctly seated in the bulkhead of the engine compartment, then untie the cord from the cable.
3. Keeping the cable routed correctly, fix it in the intermediate clamps, then install the lock assembly in place (see Section Removal, installation and adjustment of assembly of the lock of a cowl).
