Removal
Turn on the windshield wipers and set them to the park position. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See warning in Section General information and precautions).
Drive electric motor

1. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the drive motor.
2. Loosen the drive rod crank mounting nut, remove the washer, then disconnect the crank from the electric motor spindle.

3. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the electric motor assembly from the vehicle.

5. Remove the windshield wiper arms (see section Removal and installation windshield wiper arms).
6. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the drive motor.
7. Loosen the plastic nut and release the cowl panel retaining clips. Separate the cowl panel from the windshield base and move it away from the windshield wiper drive rods.

8. Remove the protective caps from the mounting spindles of both levers, then loosen the nuts and remove the flat and sealing washers.

9. Remove the drive assembly from its standard location and remove it from the vehicle, remembering the installation position of the various washers and spacer bushings on the assembly supports.
Note: On left-hand drive models, it may be necessary to release the fasteners and remove the upper section of the heater shroud to provide sufficient working space.

Installation
Drive electric motor
1. When installing a new motor, first connect it to the electrical wiring or directly to the battery in order to bring it into the parking position.
2. Start the engine in its regular place and tighten the mounting bolts securely.
3. Make sure that the arms of both windshield wipers are in the correct position (they must be in the park position), then place the drive rod crank on the motor spindle. Install the washer, then screw on the mounting nut and tighten it to the required torque.
4. Connect the wiring to the motor, then connect the battery.
Assembly of an electric motor with drive rods
Installation is performed in the reverse order of dismantling. Ensure that the washers and spacer bushings are correctly positioned. Tighten the lever mounting nuts to the required torque.
