1. In the selector lever positions "S", "D", "R" and in Tiptronic mode the engine cannot be started.

2. At speeds above 5 km/h and when the selector lever is moved to the "N" position, the electromagnet for locking the selector lever must not jump in, locking the selector lever. Using the selector lever, it is possible to engage the gear.

3. At speeds below 5 km/h and when the selector lever is moved to the "N" position, it is permissible for the electromagnet for locking the selector lever to jump in only approx. after 1 sec. The selector lever can be moved from the "N" position only when the brake pedal is pressed.
  • The selector lever is in position "P", the button in the selector lever is pressed and the ignition is on.

The brake pedal is not pressed.


  • When the button is pressed, the selector lever is locked and cannot be moved from the "P" position. The selector lever locking solenoid locks the selector lever.

The brake pedal is pressed.


  • The selector lever locking solenoid releases the selector lever. The transmission can be engaged. Slowly move the selector lever from "P" through "R, N, D, S": while doing this, check that the image of the selector lever position on the instrument panel corresponds to the actual position of the selector lever.
  • The selector lever is in the "N" position, the button in the selector lever is pressed and the ignition is on:

  • The selector lever is locked and cannot be moved from the "N" position. The selector lever locking solenoid locks the selector lever.

  • The selector lever locking solenoid releases the selector lever. The transmission can be engaged.

Note:
  • Shifting from position "N" to "D" is possible with the brake pedal depressed without pressing the button in the selector lever. To move from the "N" to the "R" position, the button in the selector lever must be pressed.
  • The selector lever is in position "D", the ignition is on.

  • The selector lever is locked and cannot be moved from position "D" to position "S".

  • The selector lever is released and it is possible to move it from position "D" to position "S".

Moving the selector lever into the Tiptronic lane


  • The "D" symbol on the selector lever indicator should go out and the "+" and "-" symbols should light up.
  • As a result of moving to the Tiptronic track, the image of the selector lever position in the instrument panel should change from "P RND S" to "6 5 4 3 2 1".

The selector lever is in the track for Tiptronic, shifting gears "+" and "-".


  • Image of the selector lever position "6 5 4 3 2 1" in the instrument panel, when moving the selector lever to "+" and accordingly, it should change by one speed step up and down, respectively.
  • Check the selector lever cable tension and adjust it.
  • Check the safety device that prevents the ignition key from being removed.
