The location of the indicator lamps may vary depending on the equipment of the model and engine type, however, the symbolism used in the text does not change.
Note. The numbering given in the text corresponds to that shown in the illustration.
Direction indicator lamps (1)
The blinking of one of the control lamps of the indicator confirms the inclusion of the indicators of the corresponding turn. If the lamp of one of the indicators fails, the blinking frequency of the indicator doubles (approval does not apply to towing a trailer).
Note. When the alarm is activated, both control lamps of the indicator start flashing.
Trailer indicator lamps (2)
While towing a trailer, these lamps duplicate the readings of the indicator of the main direction indicators, confirming the proper functioning of the trailer indicators. If any of the indicators on the trailer or vehicle fails, the indicator stops functioning.
Control lamp of inclusion of a high beam of head headlights (3)
The indicator lights up blue when the high beam headlights are turned on, as well as when the high beam is signaled.
The control lamp of inclusion of dimensional fires (4)
The indicator is activated when the car's running lights are turned on.
Control lamp of inclusion of antifog headlights (5)
The indicator confirms that the car's front fog lights are on.
Control lamp of inclusion of back foggy lanterns (6)
The indicator confirms that the car's rear fog lights are on.
Control lamp of inclusion of a passing beam of head headlights (7)
The indicator confirms that the low beam headlights are on.
Control lamp of inclusion of heating of back glass (8)
The indicator confirms that the rear window heater is on.
ABS warning lamp (9)
The lamp lights up for a short time (together with brake fluid level indicator) every time the ignition is turned on. If a few seconds after starting the engine, the lamp does not go out, therefore, there is a malfunction of the anti-lock brake system (ABS). The latter also applies to cases of complete failure of the lamp to turn on, or turn it on while driving. The failure of the anti-lock braking system confirmed by the indicator means that the vehicle will be braked without ABS, in normal mode. This fact must be taken into account when driving a vehicle. As soon as possible, the car should be driven to a Skoda authorized workshop for system diagnostics and necessary repairs.
Pilot lamp "Fasten seat belts" (10)
The indicator warns the driver and passengers of the car about the need to fasten their seat belts.
Warning lamp of the alarm system (11)
The indicator confirms the activation of the alarm.
Brake fluid level warning lamp (12)
In order to check if the lamp is working, the indicator lights up briefly when the engine is started. Failure of the lamp to turn off after starting the engine, or its operation while driving indicates a drop in the level of brake fluid in the GTZ reservoir. The car should be immediately driven to the nearest Skoda authorized service station to check the condition of the brake system, identify and eliminate the cause of the violation.
Attention! When driving the vehicle to a workshop, take into account the possible increase in the braking distance and a slight increase in resistance to depressing the foot brake pedal!
Battery level warning lamp (13)
The indicator lights up when the ignition is turned on and should go out after the engine has been successfully started. Otherwise, or if the warning light comes on while driving, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine.
Check the condition and tension of the alternator drive belt. Since the water pump of the cooling system is driven by the same belt, in the event of a break or loosening of the tension, it is impossible to continue driving. Adjust or replace the belt.
If the belt is in order, the car should be driven to the nearest service station. To avoid complete discharge of the battery, turn off all on-board electrical consumers whose operation is not essential while driving.
Control lamp of a cocking of a parking brake (14)
The indicator is activated when the ignition is on and warns the driver to release the parking brake before starting to move. When the parking brake control lever is released, the indicator goes out.
Oil pressure warning lamp (15)
The indicator lights up for a short time when the ignition is turned on and should go out after the engine has been successfully started. Otherwise, or if the warning light comes on while driving, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine. Check engine oil level. Make appropriate adjustments if necessary.
If the engine oil level is normal, do not continue driving. The engine must not be started even at idle. Contact your nearest service station for help.
Note. Operation of a control lamp can also be caused by a decrease in engine speed below normal idle. In this case, to turn off the indicator, it will be enough to slightly squeeze the accelerator pedal, or switch the manual transmission to a lower gear.
The oil pressure indicator lamp should not be considered as an indicator of the level of the latter! This means that the engine oil level should be checked regularly and regardless of the pressure indicator readings.
Airbag warning lamp (16)
If the airbag system is working, the indicator lights up for 4 seconds when the ignition is turned on, then it should turn off. Otherwise, and also if the warning lamp comes on while driving, there is a malfunction in the system and the car should be driven to the nearest Skoda authorized workshop.
If, on a suitably equipped model, 4 seconds after the ignition is switched on, the warning lamp continues to flash at 2 second intervals for an additional 16 seconds, then there is a malfunction in the front passenger airbag circuit.
Fuel supply warning lamp (17)
The indicator starts to work when approaching the end of the fuel supply in the fuel tank. When the warning light stops flashing and stays on, about 6 liters of fuel remain in the tank.
