Removal
1. Remove the instrument panel trim sections installed under the steering column.
2. Lightly depress the accelerator pedal and disconnect the drive cable end from the bushing at the top end of the pedal.
3. After releasing the bushing, pass the cable through the hole in the engine compartment bulkhead
4. In the engine compartment, release the cable end from the fuel injection pump actuator lever. Remove the rubber bushing in which the end is seated.
5. Remove the cable sheath retaining cap and push the latter through the rubber grommet. Release the grommet from the cable support bracket.
6. Release the cable from the guide intermediate clamps and remove it from the engine compartment.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Adjustment
On the high-pressure fuel pump, secure the cable sheath in the support bracket by inserting the metal retaining ring into one of the specially provided grooves so that when the gas pedal is fully depressed, the lever is slightly pressed against its stop.
