Removing
1. Park the vehicle on a level, level surface, paved if possible. Set the parking brake and chock the rear wheels.
2. Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands.
3. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
4. Drain the engine oil.
5. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold flange (see chapter Supply system). Once off the rubber hangers, lower the exhaust system sections to provide adequate access to the oil pan.
Note. When lowering the exhaust system, try not to pull on the l-probe wiring - it will be correct to disconnect it first.
6. Moving along the perimeter of the pallet, loosen and unscrew the fixing bolts in several stages.
7. Having tapped a palm, separate the pallet from the block of cylinders and take it from under the car.
8. Take this opportunity to check the condition and patency of the tube and strainer of the pump oil intake. Remove the pump if necessary (see Section Removal and installation of the oil pump and oil intake) and clean (or replace) oil intake.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces, completely removing the remnants of the old gasket material or sealant from them. Then wipe the surfaces with a cloth soaked in acetone.
2. Apply a pillow of silicone sealant with a cross section of Ø 2÷3 mm to the mating surface of the pallet, circling the mounting holes from the inside.
Note. You should not be overly zealous when applying a sealant - getting excess into the oil pan can lead to a violation of the patency of the oil intake strainer and, as a result, the development of oil starvation of the internal components of the engine.
3. After applying the sealant, immediately press the pan against the block. To avoid inaccuracies, temporarily screw a pair of M6 guide studs into the bolt holes of the block. Tighten the fixing bolts by hand.
4. In several stages, tighten the bolts to the required torque. Allow time for the sealant to cure before filling the engine with oil.
5. Hang out the sections of the exhaust system and connect its exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold (see chapter Supply system).
6. Lower the vehicle to the ground and fill the engine with the correct amount of engine oil of the correct grade.
