Note: Before starting work, refer to the precautions in Chapter 1.
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Guided by Section 1, drain the coolant from the engine.
3. Guided by Chapter 5, remove the throttle body from the intake manifold. Remove and discard the gasket, where applicable.
4. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses from the intake manifold.
5. Guided by Undressed 9, disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the channel on the intake manifold.
6. Disconnect the wiring from the temperature sensor.
7. Disconnect the hose from the valve cover.
8. Unscrew the bolt and remove the CO sampling tube.
9. Disconnect the remaining wires and hoses, marking their location.
10. Gradually loosen and remove the six intake manifold mounting nuts, then separate the manifold from the cylinder head.
11. Once again, make sure that nothing remains connected to the manifold, then remove it from the engine bay and remove the gasket. If necessary, you can remove the throttle body mounting flange by unscrewing the nuts (see illustration).
Installation
12. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to the following:
- a) Check that the mating surfaces of the manifold and cylinder head are clean and dry. Install the manifold with a new gasket, tighten the mounting nuts to the tightening torque specified in the Specifications.
- b) Restore the connections of all hoses and electrical wiring, secure them (where necessary) with fastening brackets.
- c) Install the throttle body as described in Chapter 5.
- d) Finally, fill the cooling system.
