Warning: Gasoline is extremely explosive - take extra care when working on the fuel system.
Always keep a fire extinguisher near the place of work, before starting work, familiarize yourself with the rules for its use. Protect your eyes with goggles and immediately wash off spilled fuel on your skin with soap and water. Please note that fuel vapor is just as dangerous as liquid fuel and even more so; a vessel that has held liquid fuel will still contain vapor and is potentially explosive.
Many of the operations described in this Section require the disconnection of fuel lines, which may result in a fuel spill.
There is always pressure in the fuel system even after some time after the engine is turned off. Before starting work on the components of the fuel system, this old one must be reset - be guided Chapter 9.
When working with fuel system components, be careful to keep it clean - dirt that has entered the fuel system can cause blockages.
In the interest of your own safety and equipment protection, many of the procedures in this Section require you to disconnect the negative battery cable. Firstly, it eliminates the possibility of accidental short circuits, and secondly, it prevents damage to electronic components (e.g. sensors, actuators, ECU), which are particularly sensitive to voltage fluctuations caused by the disconnection or connection of the wiring harness.
It should be noted that the engine management systems described in this Flyer (and Section 5) - self-learning, this allows the system to adapt to the current operating parameters of the engine, as it wears out during operation. This accumulated information will be lost when the battery is disconnected and it will take some time for the system to re-learn the characteristics of the engine - this can manifest (temporarily) in the form of rough idle, reduced throttle response and possibly a slight increase in fuel consumption until the system re-adjusts to current conditions. The adaptation time depends on how often the vehicle is used and the driving conditions.
