Removing
Attention! The negative cable should always be disconnected from the battery first and connected last!
If the car is equipped with a Skoda original audio system, before disconnecting the battery, make sure that you have the code required to disable the security system. On models equipped with an anti-theft system, do not forget to disable the system with a special key.
1. Loosen the compression nut and remove the terminal clamp from the negative battery post.
Note. Do not mix up the wires - both have black insulation.
2. Lift the insulation pad and disconnect the positive cable from the battery.
3. Remove the bolts at the base of the battery and fold out the battery clamp.
4. If equipped, unbolt and remove the spacer bar of the front suspension strut supports. If necessary, remove the top cover of the heater/fan unit. On petrol models, remove the charcoal canister purge valve from its base and slide it to the side without disconnecting the hoses.
5. If equipped, disconnect the ventilation tube from the top of the battery, then remove the battery from the engine compartment.
Installation
Install in reverse order When connecting the wires to the battery terminals, lubricate the terminal blocks with acid-free Vaseline to prevent corrosion.
Note. Always connect the negative wire last!
On gasoline models, disconnecting the battery clears the memory of the engine management system about the current parameters of the latter. Recovery of adaptation data may take some time, which leads to a violation of the stability of the speed during the first minutes after the next start of the engine.
On models equipped with an anti-theft device, be sure to remove the key from the main unit of the system.
