2. Lay the removed alternator on a clean work surface with the pulley down.
3. On diesel models and models of 1.6 l, give the fixing screws, release the clamps and remove the rear plastic cover from the generator.
4. Remove the screws securing the brush holder/voltage regulator module, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the module from the generator.
5. Check the free length of the protrusion of the brushes from the holders - the measurement is made from the stamp on the brushes to the lower edge of the contact surface. Compare measurement results with requirements Specifications. If necessary, replace the module.
6. Check up a condition of working surfaces of sliding rings on the end of a shaft of the generator. If you find signs of excessive wear, cavities or traces of burnout, contact a car service specialist for help.
7. Reassemble the alternator in reverse order and reinstall it (see Section Removal and installation of the generator).
