Note.
- Necessary special control devices and measuring devices, as well as auxiliary means:
- Fixing suspension device (MP9-200 (10-222A)).
- spark plug wrench e.g (3122B).
- Mounting tool (MP1-229 (3362)) with pressure piece (MP1-229/1 (3362/1)).
- Valve stem seal remover (MP1-230 (3364)).
- Valve Stem Seal Driver (MP1-233 (3365)).
- Lock lever (Т30004 (3415)) with interchangeable neck (Т30004/1 (3415/1)).
- countersupport (Т10172).
- Pressure hose (MP1-210 (VW 653/3)).
- Puller (T10094A).
1. Remove the V-ribbed implement drive belt (for details, see the relevant section in this chapter).
2. Remove the cylinder head cover (for details, see the relevant section in this chapter).
3. Unscrew the spark plugs using a special wrench (3122B).
4. Remove the rockers, put them on a clean base. At the same time, make sure not to confuse the sequence of rocker arms.
5. Set the piston of the corresponding cylinder to BDC.
6. Connect installation tool (MP1-229 (3362)) with pressure piece (MP1-229/1 (3362/1)), as shown in the figure below.
7. Screw in the pressure hose (MP1-210 (VW 653/3)) into the spark plug hole.
8. Connect the pressure hose to the compressed air source (at least 0.6 MPa (6 bar) overpressure) and remove the valve springs using the assembly tool (MP1-229 (3362)).
9. The valve stem oil seal should be removed with a puller (MP1-230 (3364)).
Installation
1. Wear special (supplied with repair kit) plastic caps on the corresponding valve stem to prevent damage to new valve stem seals.
2. Install a new valve stem seal (IN) into the valve stem seal driver (MP1-233 (3365)), as shown in the figure below.
3. After lubricating with oil the working edge of the valve stem oil scraper cap, carefully push it onto the valve guide (A), as shown in the figure below.
4. Install cylinder head cover (for details, see the relevant section in this chapter).
5. Install the camshaft drive sprockets and perform operations to check and adjust the valve timing.
6. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
