Fuel and exhaust system faults (Skoda Favorit)

Excessive fuel consumption

• The air filter element is dirty or clogged (Section 1).
• The carburetor is incorrectly adjusted or worn out (Section 1 or 4).
• The damper is incorrectly adjusted or is jammed (Section 4).
• Incorrect setting of ignition timing (Section 1).
• The tires are underinflated (Section 1).

Fuel leak and/or fuel smell

• The fuel tank, pipes or connections are damaged or rusted (Section 1).
• Flooding of the carburetor float chamber (Section 4).

Excessive noise or smoky exhaust

• Leak at the joints of the exhaust system or manifold (Section 1 or 4).
• The mufflers or exhaust pipe are rusty or damaged (Section 1).
• The mounting brackets are broken (Section 1).
