Note: Before concluding that there is a problem with the brake system, check the condition of the tires and tire pressure, and check the front wheel alignment.
Vehicle pulls to one side when braking
- Worn, damaged, or dirty front or rear brake pads on one side (Section 1).
- Fully or partially seized front brake caliper piston or rear brake cylinder (Section 1 or 9).
- On different sides of the car brake pads with linings of various materials are installed (Section 1).
- Loose brake caliper mounting bolts (Section 1 or 9).
- Rear drum brake support shield mounting bolts loose (Section 1 or 9).
- Worn or damaged steering or suspension components (Section 10).
Noise (rubbing or screeching) when braking
- Brake pad worn to metal base (Section 1).
- Badly rusted brake disc or drum. (May occur after a long parking of the car) (Section 1).
- Foreign object stuck between brake disc and mudguard (Section 1).
Excessive brake pedal travel
- Automatic rear brake adjuster not working (Section 9).
- Damaged master cylinder (Section 9).
- Air in the brake hydraulic system (Section 9).
- Damaged vacuum booster unit (Section 9).
Brake pedal feels springy when pressed
- Air in the brake hydraulic system (Section 9).
- Flexible rubber brake hoses in poor condition (Section 1 or 9).
- Loose master cylinder mounting nuts (Section 9).
- Damaged master cylinder (Section 9).
To stop the car, you need to press the brake pedal with excessive force
- Damaged vacuum booster unit (Section 9).
- Disconnected, damaged or kinked brake booster vacuum hose (Section 1 or 9).
- Malfunction in brake circuits (Section 9).
- Brake caliper or slave cylinder piston seized (Section 1 or 9).
- Brake pads installed incorrectly (Section 1 or 9).
- Wrong brake pads installed (Section 1 or 9).
- Dirty brake pads (Section 1).
When braking, intense vibration is felt through the pedal or steering wheel
- Excessive disc runout or deformation of the front brake disc or rear drums (Section 9).
- Worn brake pad (Section 1).
- Loose front brake caliper or rear drum brake support plate mounting bolts (Section 9).
- Worn suspension or steering components or their mountings (Section 10).
Wheel braking
- Brake caliper or slave cylinder piston seized (Section 9).
- Incorrectly adjusted handbrake or linkage (Section 1).
- Damaged master cylinder (Section 9).
