Valve cover — removal and installation (Skoda Favorit)

Removal

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Disconnect the breather hose from the valve cover oil filler neck (see illustration).



3. Loosen and remove the two valve cover mounting nuts and release the fuel supply hose mounting bracket from the stud (see illustration). Remove the two washers and the strut seal.



4. Remove the valve cover (see illustration) and carefully remove the rubber seal from the groove. Check the seal for damage or deformation, and replace it if necessary.

Installation

5. Carefully clean the contact surfaces of the cylinder head and the groove in the cover. Install the rubber seal in the groove in the valve cover (see illustration).



6. Install the cover onto the cylinder head, then install the seals, washers and nuts onto the studs, remembering to install the fuel hose retaining clip. Tighten both nuts to the specified torque Specifications.

7. Connect the breather hose to the oil filler neck and connect the battery.
