Removing
1. To gain access to the parking brake lever, remove the rear section of the center console. On models without a console, remove the decorative lever cover. The design of the lever is shown in the illustration.
2. Loosen locknuts completely, then loosen adjusting nuts to allow maximum slack on both drive cables. Remove cotter pin and release equalizer plate from arm.
3. Remove the pivot pin retaining ring. Remove the pin and remove the lever assembly from the vehicle.
Note. Worn ratchet components can be individually replaced.
Installation
1. Before installation, make sure that the ratchet components are correctly positioned. Lightly lubricate the mechanism and axle pin seat with multipurpose grease.
2. Get the lever on the regular place and insert an axial finger. Secure the pin with the retaining ring, making sure it fits correctly in its groove.
3. Connect the cable tension equalizer plate to the arm and secure it with a new cotter pin.
4. Adjust parking brake actuator (see Section Parking brake adjustment).
