General instructions
The fuel filler neck is located on the right rear of the vehicle.
Turning the master key to the left in the lock of the lockable fuel filler cap, unscrew and remove the latter. The removed cover can be fixed on the edge of the hatch flap door.
Fuel tank capacity varies by model. On carburetor models, the tank volume is 47 liters, on models equipped with a fuel injection system - 42 liters.
The first shutdown of a properly functioning automatic dispensing nozzle means that the tank is full. Further refueling may lead to the development of fuel leaks from under the cap as a result of its thermal expansion.
After refueling, replace the cap, turn the key to the right until it clicks and remove it from the lock.
Attention! Avoid running out of fuel on models equipped with a catalytic converter. Violation of the regular supply of the air-fuel mixture to the engine can lead to its incomplete combustion and the ingress of raw fuel into the converter. Ignition of the fuel inside the converter is fraught with failure of its working element.
Try to avoid transporting fuel in canisters. If this situation cannot be avoided, take care of the reliability of fastening the canister.
Fuel type
When refueling the vehicle, use only the grades of fuel recommended by the vehicle manufacturers. Try to avoid refueling at container dispensers, the quality of the fuel poured from which cannot be vouched for.
If in an emergency it is necessary to refuel the car with fuel with a lower octane rating than required, try not to excessively increase the engine speed, driving at an average frequency and with minimal loads. Fill the tank with the correct grade of fuel as soon as possible.
Refueling a car with higher than required octane fuel is not prohibited, although it does not give any advantages in terms of increasing the power developed by the engine and reducing fuel consumption.
Attention! For refueling models equipped with a catalytic converter, only lead-free unleaded fuel can be used! Violation of this requirement can lead to irreversible failure of the converter.
Use of additives
The quality of the fuel poured into the fuel tank has a significant effect on the overall service life and efficiency of the engine. The use of branded additives to it contributes to the improvement of fuel performance - consult car service specialists.
When using low quality diesel fuel, drain the water from the fuel filter more often than specified in the Vehicle Maintenance Schedule (see chapter Current service). The accumulation of water in the filter adversely affects the stability of the engine speed. Drainage of water is best done in a car service workshop.
Rules for the operation of diesel models in the winter season
The use of winter diesel fuel
When the air temperature drops below 0°C in the so-called "summer" diesel fuel releases paraffin, which leads to clogging of the fuel filter and interruptions in engine operation.
In most countries with cold climates, a wide range of specialty "winter" types of diesel fuel that ensure the reliability of engine operation at temperatures up to -15°С÷-22°С (depending on the type of fuel). Consult at the station of the Skoda branded service center.
Fuel filter preheating
The vehicle is equipped with a fuel filter preheater. Thanks to this device, the operational stability of diesel fuel, intended for use at temperatures down to -15°C, is maintained up to an outdoor temperature of -25°C. the need to mix gasoline into diesel fuel is eliminated.
Attention! Do not add any additives to diesel fuel (including gasoline), increasing its fluidity, or other operational parameters.
