Examination
1. Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands.
2. Check the power unit suspension pads for cracks, signs of hardening of the material, delamination of rubber from the metal base, and other damage. Defective bearings must be replaced.
3. Using a torque wrench, check the correct tightening torque of the threaded connections of the supports.
4. Using a large screwdriver or pry bar as a lever, assess the degree of wear of the supports (if necessary, use the help of an assistant). If excessive play is found, replace worn components after making sure fasteners are securely tightened.
Replacement
Right support
The rubber cushion of the right support is mounted in the water pump housing. The pillow is removed using a hydraulic press, or a set of barbs with spacer bushings. It would be better to entrust this work to the specialists of the car service workshop.
Left support
The left support cushion is mounted in the end cover of the gearbox housing and can be removed in the workshop of a Skoda branded service center using a special puller.
Rear supports
1. The rear suspension arm is equipped with two rubber torsion bar inserts, one of which (home) is pressed into a bracket attached to the rear wall of the gearbox housing, a second, smaller rubber bushing is pressed into the back of the backstage of the front suspension subframe. Replacing the rubber components of the support is carried out in a car service workshop, since special tools are required for its implementation.
2. To remove the main torsion bar, support the power unit with a second jack (in order to distribute the load, lay a block of wood between the head of the jack and the oil pan). Remove the nut and through bolt securing the support to the link of the subframe. Give two bolts and a nut (on models of recent years of production - three nuts) attaching the support to the gearbox housing and remove the support assembly from the vehicle.
3. To remove the backstage, give the nut securing its rear to the support bracket on the subframe, remove the through bolt with a washer. Then give a nut and take a through bolt of fastening of scenes to an arm of the main support. Remove the backstage and remove it from under the car.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Check the tightness of the fasteners.
