Removal



1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

2. Support the rear wheels of the car with wedges, then jack up the front of the car and place it on supports.

3. Drain the engine oil, then replace the drain plug and tighten it to the specified torque. If the time for an oil change is approaching, as per the Routine Maintenance Schedule (see Chapter Routine maintenance), replace the oil filter.

4. Under the vehicle, unscrew the bolt securing…


4. Under the vehicle, unscrew the bolt securing the cooling tract pipe to the bracket on the right end of the oil pan.

5. In the reverse order to that shown in the illustration, loosen the pan mounting bolts in several stages. Try to remember the installation position of the cooling tract tube bracket, which is secured with the right pan mounting bolt.



6. Tap the pan with your palm to separate it from the engine block, then lower it and remove it from under the vehicle.

7. Take this opportunity to clean the oil intake mesh filter. If the mesh is heavily soiled, replace the filter (if necessary, see Section Removal, inspection and installation of oil pump components).

Installation



1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block, completely removing all traces of oil from them, then wipe the oil pan and internal surfaces of the engine dry with a clean rag.
