Removing
1. In the engine compartment, at the rear of the gearbox housing, find the speedometer drive device. loosen (but don't turn away) knurled union nut for fastening the drive cable.
2. Turn out a fixing bolt and take out a plate of fastening of the driving mechanism.
3. Pull the cable to remove the drive mechanism assembly. Completely unscrew the union nut, disconnect the cable and remove the drive mechanism from the vehicle.
4. Check the drive gear for chipped or missing teeth. Replace if necessary. Check the condition of the sealing ring. If there are defects, the ring should also be replaced.
Installation
1. Track the correct fit in its regular place of the sealing ring of the drive mechanism assembly (before installation, the ring should be lightly lubricated with oil).
2. Connect the drive cable to the assembly by lightly tightening the knurled nut.
3. Put the assembly in its regular place in the gearbox, making sure that the gear teeth are correctly inserted into the mesh.
4. Install the mounting plate, making sure it fits into the drive slots. Tighten the fixing bolt to the required torque.
5. Loosen the knurled nut to relieve internal tension in the cable core, then re-tighten the nut firmly.
