Removal

1. In the engine compartment, in the rear part of the manual transmission housing, find the speedometer drive device. Loosen (but don't turn away completely) union nut with knurling for fastening the drive cable.
2. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the drive mechanism mounting plate.
3. Pull the cable to remove the drive mechanism assembly. Loosen the union nut completely, disconnect the cable, and remove the drive mechanism from the vehicle.
4. Check the drive gear of the mechanism for chipped or lost teeth. Replace if necessary. Check the condition of the sealing ring. If there are any defects, the ring should also be replaced.
Installation
1. Make sure that the drive mechanism assembly sealing ring is seated correctly in its regular place (before installation, the ring should be lightly lubricated with oil).
2. Connect the drive cable to the assembly by loosely tightening the knurled union nut.
3. Place the assembly in its regular place in the gearbox, making sure that the gear teeth are correctly engaged.
