Removing
Note. See the warnings in Section General information and precautions.
1. The drain plug in the fuel tank is not provided, and therefore it is advisable to dismantle it after the final emptying. Remember to first disconnect the battery by disconnecting the negative cable from it. Residual fuel can be pumped out of the tank using a syringe or hand pump.
2. Support the front wheels of the vehicle with wedges, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on jack stands. Remove the right rear wheel.
3. Remove the access cover and disconnect the electrical wiring and fuel supply and return hoses from the top of the fuel pump/fuel flow sensor assembly.
4. Under the car release worm collars and disconnect a tube of a jellied mouth from a tank.
5. Release the mounting clips and release the parking brake cables from the guide clips on the fuel tank mounting bracket and both ends of the rear axle beam. Move the cables to the side and tie them with wire.
.6 Support the tank, then loosen the bolts of the mounting brackets. Rotate the brackets down and lower the tank. Note that one of the tank mounting bracket bolts is also used to mount the exhaust system hanger support - tie up the appropriate section of the system. When lowering the tank, make sure that it does not catch on components located in the immediate vicinity. remove the tank from under the car and drain the last remaining fuel from it. Seal all openings to prevent dirt from entering the tank.
7. If water gets into the tank or if there are signs of severe internal contamination, flush the tank with clean fuel. A leaking tank should be taken to a specialist workshop for inspection and repair.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following points:
- a) When lifting the tank to its original position, try not to pinch any fuel hoses;
- b) Follow the correct laying and the reliability of fastening of all lines. Make sure the hoses are not kinked;
- c) Bolts of mounting brackets for fastening the tank must be tightened with the required force;
- d) Finally, fill the tank with fuel and check for signs of leaks.
