Intake manifold components
1 - Throttle housing support flange; 2 - Fixing bolt; 3 - Inlet pipeline; 4 - Nut of fastening of the inlet pipeline; 5 - The hose of the cooling path going to the heater; 6 - Coolant temperature sensor of the injection system; 7 - Fitting for connecting the vacuum hose of the cylinder head cover; 8 - Connection fitting for the vacuum hose of the brake booster; 9 - The hose of the cooling path going to the thermostat casing
Warning! See the warnings in Section General information and precautions.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Drain the engine coolant. Alternatively, disconnect the negative cable from the battery. One of the coolant hoses from the back of the intake pipe and empty the pipe.
3. Disconnect wiring and fuel hoses from fuel flow sensor assembly (see Section Removal and installation of components of the Bosch Mono-Motronic system). Alternatively, remove the entire throttle body assembly.
4. Release collars and disconnect hoses of a cooling path from the inlet pipeline.
5. Disconnect a hose of the vacuum brake booster from the union on the inlet pipeline.
6. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the coolant temperature sensor at the rear of the intake manifold.
7. Directly above the temperature sensor, disconnect the vacuum tube going to the cylinder head cover.
8. Turn out a fixing bolt and disconnect a tube of sampling WITH from a back part of the inlet pipeline.
9. All cables and hoses must be released from their retainers on the body of the intake manifold assembly. Try to remember the routes for laying harnesses and lines.
10. Loosen the intake manifold nuts in several stages, then carefully separate the pipeline from the cylinder head. Take care not to damage the gasket if it is to be used again.
11. Make sure one last time that nothing is left connected to the pipeline, then remove the assembly from the engine compartment. If necessary, the support flange of the throttle body can be removed from the pipeline after loosening the fixing nuts.
12. Damaged gasket must be replaced. If the engine is equipped with an intake/exhaust manifold combination assembly, the manifold must also be removed.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following points:
- a) Track the cleanliness of the mating surfaces of the pipeline and cylinder head;
- b) Pipe fastening nuts must be tightened to the required torque;
- c) Follow the correct laying and connection of all cables and hoses;
- d) If removed, reinstall the throttle body (or connect appropriate wiring and hoses);
- e) Finally, add fluid to the cooling system.
