Removal
1. Separate the steering knuckle from the drive shaft as described in Section 8, Chapter 2, paragraphs 1-8 (skip point 4).

2. Unscrew the brake caliper mounting bracket from the steering knuckle, then separate the caliper and secure it so as not to damage the brake hose. Place a clean gasket (the same thickness as a brake disc) between the pads to prevent them from shifting (Section 9, Chapter 14).
3. If it is necessary to disassemble the steering knuckle, remove the brake disc (Section 9, Chapter 16).
4. Loosen the tie bolt and nut securing the steering knuckle to the lower end of the strut, knock out the bolt and remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle.
Installation
5. Install in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to the following.
- a) Clean and lubricate the pinch bolt and nut, then clean the contact surfaces of the steering knuckle and strut.
- b) Place the steering knuckle against the strut, then insert the tie bolt and tighten the nut, tightening it to the specified tightening torque Specifications.
- c) Install the brake disc and caliper (Section 9).
- d) Assemble the front suspension as described in Section 8, Chapter 2, paragraphs 16-21. Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified tightening torque Specifications, where given.
