Removing
1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and place it securely on axle stands.
2. Separate the ball joint from the lower arm or steering knuckle (Chapter 6).
3. Loosen and remove the lower arm rear pivot clamp, note the location of the tongue. First unscrew the two large bolts, then insert a heavy-duty screwdriver and pry the crossbar down so that the wrench enters the gap and you can unscrew the smaller bolt and nut. Loosen the front nut and remove the bolt (photo).
4. Remove the lever.

5. Thoroughly clean the arm and the cross/bottom areas around the mounts, then carefully inspect the components for cracks, deformation, or other signs of wear or damage; don't forget the pivot bolt and clamp fasteners. Replace any worn or damaged components.
6. Check pivot bolt bushings and replace if cracked, worn or split. The rear hinge bolt bushing can be replaced by hand. and a press or vise is required to replace the front hub.
Installation
7. Install in the reverse order of removal paying attention to the following.
- a) All fasteners should only be lightly tightened at first until the suspension is assembled and the vehicle is on the ground.
- b) When the car is on wheels, shake it. so that the suspension components are properly in place, then tighten all disturbed nuts and bolts with the tightening torque specified specifications (photo).
- c) After performing such work, it is necessary to check the wheel alignment (Chapter 21).
