Note: New anti-roll bar strut nuts and ball joint nuts will be required for assembly.
Removal
1. Chock the rear wheels, set the parking brake firmly, then jack up the front of the car and place it on stands. Remove both front wheels.
2. Remove the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter (see section Dismantling the power unit and major engine repairs Chapters Engine repair).
3. Remove the anti-roll bar (see section Removal and installation the front suspension anti-roll bar).
4. Remove both lower control arms (see section Removal, overhaul and installation of lower arms of the front suspension).
5. Unscrew the clamp bolts of the steering gear housing support clamps. Remove the clamps from the subframe.
6. Loosen the nut and remove the through bolt securing the rear support of the powertrain suspension.
7. Make sure that all cables and hoses secured to the subframe are released from the clamps and moved to the side.
8. Place a jack with a wooden block placed on its head under the subframe.

9. Unscrew the subframe mounting bolts, carefully lower the assembly on the jack and remove it from under the car. Make sure that the subframe does not catch on the power steering system lines during removal.
Installation
Installation is carried out in reverse order. Particular attention should be paid to the following points:
- a) The fastening bolts must be tightened strictly to the required force;
- b) Before installing the clamps, ensure that the rubber pads of the steering gear supports are correctly positioned (the bushings must be pressed against the subframe with the flat side). Clean the threads of the mounting bolts, then lubricate them with a locking sealant such as Loctite 270. Tighten the bolts with the required force;
- c) Install the lower arms and anti-roll bar in accordance with the instructions given in Sections Removal, overhaul and installation of lower arms of the front suspension, Removal and installation the front suspension anti-roll bar;
- d) The procedure for installing the exhaust system is given in Part Dismantling the power unit and major engine repairs Chapters Engine Repair;
- e) Finally, do not forget to check the geometry of the front suspension (see section Car Wheel Alignment Angles - General Information).
