Detailed information on mandatory other sensors is given in the relevant Parts of the Chapter Supply system. These include a coolant temperature sensor, an intake air temperature/pressure sensor, and a throttle potentiometer with an integrated idle speed stabilization switch.
Knock sensor
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. The sensor is installed at the rear of the cylinder block. Access to it from above is extremely limited (especially on 1.6 l models). if the sensor is equipped with a thermal shield, unscrew the fastening bolt of the latter with a bar wrench.
3. Disunite a socket of electroconducting of the gauge of a detonation.
4. Turn out a fixing bolt and remove the gauge.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order. The fixing bolt must be tightened strictly with the required force - the correct functioning of the sensor depends on this.
RPM and crankshaft position sensor
Bosch Mono-Motronic system
1. The sensor is installed on top of the gearbox crankcase.
2. Disconnect the 3-pin electrical connector located in the bracket attached to the thermostat housing. Release the connector plug from the bracket.
3. Turn out a fixing bolt and take the gauge from the landing nest in a transmission case. Check the sensor element for signs of damage or debris.
Simos 2P
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Thoroughly clean the sensor from dirt beforehand. Tighten the fixing bolt to the required torque.
2. The procedures for removing and installing the speed and crankshaft position sensor in the Simos 2P system are similar to those described for the Mono-Motronic system. The only difference is that the wiring connector in this case is installed directly on top of the sensor.
Magneti-Marelli 1AV
This system uses a Hall effect sensor built into the distributor assembly. Since it is necessary to disassemble the distributor to replace the sensor, it would be more correct to entrust this to qualified car service specialists.
