EGR valve installation components
1 - Inlet pipeline; 2 - Gasket; 3 - EGR valve; 4 - Mounting clamp; 5 - Coupling screw; 6 - Connecting tube; 7 - Exhaust manifold; 8 - Fixing nut
General information
The system consists of an EGR control valve, an EGR control solenoid valve, a diesel control unit and connecting vacuum hoses.
The EGR valve is flanged to the intake manifold. The second valve flange is connected to the exhaust manifold by means of a semi-rigid tube.
The solenoid valve / EGR modulator is fixed to the rear of the engine compartment by means of a bracket.
The EGR system is controlled by the diesel control unit, also located at the rear of the engine compartment, next to the glow plug relay. The control unit activates the EGR system only in the engine speed range from 825 rpm to 3200 rpm. Outside the specified range, the system is disabled.
Disabling the EGR system is also provided for the first two seconds from the start of acceleration, as well as when the car is moving at an altitude of over 1000 m above sea level.
Component Replacement
EGR valve
1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the union on top of the EGR valve.
2. Turn out bolts of fastening of the valve to a flange of the inlet pipeline. Remove and discard the seal.
3. Turn out the coupling screw of a fixing collar and disconnect the valve from a semi-rigid tube going from an exhaust manifold. If necessary, give the fixing nuts and remove the semi-rigid tube from the exhaust manifold (don't forget to remove the gasket too).
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following points:
- a) Don't forget to replace the flange seal;
- b) If the semi-rigid tube was removed, also replace its sealing gasket. Loosely screw in the mounting bolts and make sure that the tube is not kinked or under load before tightening it to the required torque.
Solenoid valve modulator EGR
1. Make sure the ignition is off, then disconnect the wiring from the valve. Do not confuse the valve connector with the gray-colored idle booster connector located right there.
2. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the hoses from the valve fittings. Try to remember the orientation of the valve in the tract.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Attention! Track correctness of connection of vacuum hoses. Violation of the functioning of the EGR system leads to a decrease in the efficiency of the combustion process of the air-fuel mixture and an increase in exhaust smoke.
