Removal and installation the driver's airbag module (Skoda Fabia 5J)

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Tilt the steering wheel to its lowest position. Pull the steering wheel out completely to the extreme position. Turn the steering wheel until one of the "arrow A" holes is in the upper position. Remove using a lever action of a screwdriver (the maximum overall length of the screwdriver is approximately 170 mm, the blade width is approximately 5 mm) spring "arrow A" in the direction of "arrow B".

Important: When releasing the spring, push the Airbag module outward from the steering wheel.

Proceed in the same way with the second spring. Carefully remove the module from the steering wheel and fold it back. Disconnect the plug connector from the Airbag system module. Place the module so that the part covered with upholstery faces upwards.

Installation

Installation should be carried out in reverse order. Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.

Remove the driver's airbag module. Set the steering wheel to the center position (wheels - for moving in a straight line). Unscrew the screw (item 2). Mark the relative positions of the steering wheel and shaft (item 4) with a line if the relative positions are not already marked at the factory. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of actions.

• 2 - 50 Nm. It can be used up to 5 times, and then it must be replaced with a new one. Each installation should be marked with a center punch.
• 3 - "Airbag" module
• 4 - Steering wheel shaft

Remove the driver's airbag module. Set the steering wheel to the center position (wheels - for moving in a straight line). Unscrew the screw (item 2). Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the glove compartment. Remove screws "2". Remove the airbag module "Airbag" "1" a little bit from the dashboard. Disconnect the module plug connector. Finish removing the module.

Installation

Connect the airbag module plug connector. Insert the airbag module "Airbag" "1" on the bracket in the instrument panel. Install screws "2" (9 Nm). Build in the glove compartment. Turn on the ignition. Connect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle.

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Disconnect the plug connector (pos. 4). Separate the backrest from the seat base. Loosen the backrest trim in the area of the airbag module. Remove the screws (pos. 3). Remove the airbag module from the backrest frame (pos. 1).

Installation

Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of actions. Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the upper panels (upholstery) of the A, B, C pillars. Remove the shaped roof trim. Disconnect the plug connector (item 4). Remove the screws (item 3) and remove the head airbag module. Remove the nuts (pos. 2).

Installation

Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of actions. Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.

Removal and installation the side "Airbag" airbag sensor

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the front seat. Remove the lower panel (upholstery) of the B-pillar. Move the carpet aside. Disconnect plug connector "2". Remove screws (9 Nm) "1" and remove the side airbag sensor "Airbag" "2".

Installation

Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of actions, and the following must be observed: Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.

Removal and installation the head airbag sensor

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the side panel of the trunk of the D-pillar. Disconnect the plug connector "2". After removing the screws "1" (9 Nm), remove the sensor "3".

Installation

Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of actions, and the following must be observed: Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.

Removal and installation the "Airbag" system control unit

Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the middle panel. After unlocking the locking clamp of the plug connector "2" in the direction of the "arrow", disconnect the plug connector "3" from the control unit. After removing the nuts "4" (9 Nm), remove the control unit "1".

Installation

Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of actions, and the following must be observed: Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.

Removal and installation the front passenger airbag switch

Switching on and off should only be done with the ignition off. Disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Using a lever motion, carefully remove the "Airbag" switch for the front passenger "1" from the instrument panel, e.g. using a screwdriver. Disconnect the plug connector of the front passenger airbag switch.

Installation

Connect the plug connector of the airbag switch for the front passenger seat. The front passenger airbag switch should be pressed into the hole in the instrument panel. Before connecting the battery, turn on the ignition.
