Use only new genuine brake fluid meeting FMVSS 571.116 DOT 4.

Caution: Never allow brake fluid to come into contact with liquids containing petroleum oils (oil, gasoline). Oils damage the seals and cups of the brake system. Brake fluid is poisonous. Furthermore, due to its corrosive properties, it should not come into contact with painted surfaces. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it can absorb atmospheric moisture. Areas contaminated with brake fluid should be washed with a relatively large amount of water.

Unscrew the threaded plug of the hydraulic brake fluid reservoir. Remove the mesh and clean it. Using a draining device, drain as much brake fluid from the expansion tank as possible. Add new fluid to the expansion tank.

Cars with manual transmission

Remove the engine cover. With the ignition off, disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Remove the air filter. Remove the battery and battery holder. Connect the device for filling the hydraulic brake drive and for bleeding air from it "ROMESS S15".

Cars with 02T gearbox

Cars with 02T gearbox

After inserting the air bleed hose "A" onto the air bleed valve of the clutch release drive working cylinder "arrow", open the valve.

Cars with 02R gearbox

After inserting the air bleed hose "A" onto the clutch release drive slave cylinder "arrow", open the air valve.

Continuation for vehicles with manual transmission

Fill the system with brake fluid at a pressure of 0.2 MPa. Leave it for approx. 100 cm3 of brake fluid until air bubbles stop appearing. Close the air bleed valve. Press the clutch pedal 10...15 times from stop to stop. Open the air valve.

Place the hose of the suction device "1" on the threaded plug to remove air (wheel brake cylinder bypass valve) right rear wheel. Loosen the bleed screw and, while pressing the brake pedal, release approx. 0.2 liters of brake fluid. Secure the clutch pedal in the lower position using a spacer bar to hold the pedal, e.g. "VAG 1869/2". After tightening the vent plug, remove the hose. Release the brake pedal. Repeat the procedure for all wheels in the following order: left rear, right front and left front. After inserting the mesh into the expansion tank, add brake fluid to the specified level. Check the pedal pressure and free pedal travel, which should not exceed 1/3 of the total travel.

Vehicles with ABS or ABS/EDS

After removing the air, these vehicles must be given a test run. In this case, at least one ABS adjustment must be made!
