Ignition switch (lock)

1 – ignition switch; 2 – steering column; I, II…

1 – ignition switch; 2 – steering column; I, II and III – positions of the key in the ignition switch

Ignition switch 1 is integrated with the anti-theft device that locks the steering wheel.

The key in the ignition switch can be in three positions.

Position I – ignition off. The key is removed. When the key is removed, the steering is locked. To turn off the anti-theft device, insert the key into the ignition switch and, while slightly turning the steering wheel left and right, turn the key from position I clockwise.

Caution! If you remove the key from the ignition switch but forget to turn off the exterior lights, a chime will sound when you open the driver's door.

Caution! Do not remove the key from the ignition switch while the vehicle is moving, otherwise the steering column may be locked by the anti-theft device and the vehicle will become uncontrollable.

Position II – ignition on. The key cannot be removed. The steering is unlocked.

Position III – ignition and starter are on. This is achieved by turning the key all the way clockwise, overcoming the spring force. The steering is unlocked. In this position, the key is not locked; to operate the starter, it must be held by hand.
