Replacing the left shaft seal with flange
After removing the left front wheel, lift the car. Remove the lower engine cover, remove the liner (lining) of the wing from under the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. Remove the propeller shaft from the flange shaft. Remove screws "1".
Important: After installation, it is necessary to check the geometry (kinematics) car.
Unscrew the stabilizer connecting rod "2" from the stabilizer "arrow", turn the stabilizer connecting rod upward. Fold the cover outward from the wheel bearing housing. Attach the drive shaft as high as possible. At the same time, do not damage the protective paint coating of the cardan shaft. Place a receiving pan under the engine and gearbox. Unscrew the shaft fastening screw from the flange, while securing the shaft with the flange with a key to prevent it from turning. Remove the shaft with flange, including the spring.
Remove the shaft seal with flange. Be careful not to damage the bushing, otherwise leaks will appear. If damaged, replace the bushing.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of actions, and the following instructions must be followed.
Hammer the new sealing ring into the bushing until it stops: do not jam the ring when hammering it in. Fill the space between the working edges of the ring with sealing grease "G 052 128 A1". Put on the shaft with the flange. Attach the flange shaft with a conical head screw. Screw the cardan shaft onto the flange shaft. Check the transmission oil level and, if necessary, top it up to the lower edge of the filler hole. Install the liner (lining) of the wing from the left wheel well. Install the lower engine cover. Check the geometry (kinematics) car.

Distinguishing between seals with a right flange
- Oil seal "1" with a flange to the right is located in sleeve "2" and is available in various designs.
- Seal "1" and bushing "2" are detachable: there are "arrow" notches around the bushing perimeter.
- Oil seal "1" and sleeve "2" are non-separable: there are no recesses around the sleeve perimeter.
