The position of the adjusting bolt in the steering gear housing
1 - adjusting bolt; 2 - crankcase of the steering mechanism; 3 - bolt punching points
1. Raise and secure the front of the vehicle.
2. Turn the steering wheel sharply to one side and the other by about 30°- an unacceptable gap can be determined by a knock heard in the car.
3. If an unacceptable gap is detected, the assistant must carefully screw in the adjusting bolt 1 (see fig. The position of the adjusting bolt in the steering gear housing) into the steering gear housing until the knocking heard in the cabin is eliminated.
4. Take a test drive. After passing the turn or when parking the car, the steering wheel should automatically smoothly return to the position corresponding to the rectilinear movement of the car. Otherwise, adjust the clearance again.
5. Lock the adjusting bolt with uniform punching in three places on the end of the steering gear housing.
