Checking the Thermostat (Skoda Fabia 6Y)

1. Remove the thermostat from the vehicle.

2. Immerse the thermostat and control thermometer in a glass container with cooling liquid so that they do not touch the bottom and walls of the vessel (this may lead to distortion of readings).

3. Place the container on an electric hotplate and increase the coolant temperature, monitoring the thermometer readings and the movement of the thermostat valve. It should begin to open at a liquid temperature of approximately 88°C and be fully open at 92°C.

4. Replace the thermostat if it fails any of the test requirements.
