Installing a thermostat
a - gasoline engine; b - diesel engine; 1 - spring clamp; 2 – a bolt of fastening of a cover; 3 – a cover of the case of the thermostat; 4 - sealing ring; 5 - thermostat; 6 – the union of a hose of a broad tank; 7 - branch pipe for supplying liquid to the heater; 8 - branch pipe of the hose for draining fluid from the expansion tank; 9 - bracket; 10 - branch pipe of the hose for draining fluid from the heater; 11 - water pump housing; 12 - sealing ring; 13 – a tube for a cooling liquid; 14 - thermostat housing; 15 – a bolt of fastening of the case of the thermostat; 16 - cork; 17 - coolant temperature sensor
In case of violation of the temperature regime of the engine, remove, check and, if necessary, replace the thermostat.
1. Remove the engine cover (see subsection 2.1).
2. Drain the coolant (see subsection 5.13).
3. Loosen the clamp 1 and disconnect the hose from the cover 3 of the thermostat housing.
4. Turn away two bolts 2 fastenings and remove a cover 3 of the case of the thermostat from the engine.
5. Turn thermostat 5 90°counterclockwise and remove it from the housing.
6. Install thermostat 5 in the housing and fix it in it by turning it 90°clockwise.
7. Replace a torn or loose O-ring 4. It is recommended to replace the O-ring with a new one regardless of its condition.
8. Before installing a new thermostat, check that it is in good condition and that there are no foreign particles on the valve seat that could prevent the valve from closing completely.
9. Install O-ring 4 on thermostat cover 3, having previously cleaned and lubricated the ring with clean coolant.
10. Establish a cover 3 of the thermostat on the engine and wrap bolts 2 of its fastening.
11. Connect the hose to the thermostat housing and secure it with a clamp.
12. Pour liquid into the cooling system (see subsection 5.13).
