Remove the rear suspension completely from the car only to replace a damaged beam or replace the body. All other elements of the rear suspension can be repaired or replaced without removing it from the vehicle.

1. Disconnect the parking brake cables (see subsection 9.9.4).

2.Loosen bolts 1 (see figureRear suspension parts with drum brakes) rear wheel mounts.

3. Install the clamps on both suspension springs 31.

4. Raise the rear of the vehicle until the wheels are off the ground and place it on secure supports.

5. Remove both springs 31 (see subsection 7.3.6).

6. Disconnect the brake hoses from the brake pipes 20 on both sides of the beam, going to the wheel cylinders of the rear wheel brake mechanisms. Plug the openings of the pipes and hoses.

7. Lower the rear of the vehicle until the wheels touch the ground and place it on supports in this position.

8. Unscrew nuts 29 on both sides that secure beam 18 of the suspension to brackets 30 of the body.

9. Remove bolts 28. If necessary, knock them out with a hammer.

10. Roll out the rear suspension beam with brake mechanisms, tubes, hoses and cables from under the car on wheels.

11. When using a lift to raise the vehicle, before disconnecting the suspension arms from the body brackets, place supports under the spring cups of the arms, remove the wheels and dismantle the suspension beam with an assistant. If necessary, completely disassemble the rear suspension.

12. Install the rear suspension beam in reverse order. In this case, replace the bolts 23 with nuts 22 of the lower shock absorber mount and the bolts 28 with nuts 29 of the beam mount to the body brackets with new ones. During installation, the heads of bolts 23 for the lower shock absorber mounts should face the inside of the vehicle, while the heads of bolts 28 for the beam mounts to the body brackets should face the outside. Final tightening of bolts 23 and 28 should be performed with the vehicle on the ground (when tightening the suspension arm mounting bolts, place a load weighing approximately 75 kg in the trunk).
