Crankshaft speed sensor for 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW engines
1 – sensor; 2 – connecting block
If the sensor fails while the engine is running, the engine will stop immediately. If you restart the engine, the ECU will replace the signal from the crankshaft speed sensor with a signal from the camshaft position sensor - in this case, the engine will run at a higher idle speed.
Examination
1. Disconnect connector 2 (see figure Crankshaft speed sensor for 1.0 l, 37 kW and 1.4 l, 50 kW engines) with wires from crankshaft speed sensor 1.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the sensor contacts – it should show a resistance of 400–640 Ohms at a temperature of 20°C (as the temperature of the sensor increases, its resistance increases).
3. If the ohmmeter shows a value higher than specified, replace the sensor.
