Camshaft position sensor for 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW engines
1 – sensor; 2 – connecting block
Examination
1. Check the battery voltage first. It should be at least 11.5 V.
2. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).
3. Disconnect connector 2 (see figure Camshaft position sensor for 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW engines) with wires from sensor 1.
4. Connect the voltmeter to contacts 1 and 3 of connector 2.
5. Turn on the ignition. The voltmeter should show a voltage of at least 4.5 V.
6. If the voltmeter shows 0, check the wires for open circuits and short circuits.
7. If there is no open or short circuit in the wires, and the voltmeter shows a voltage of at least 4.5 V, replace the camshaft position sensor.
8. If there is no open or short circuit in the wires, and the voltmeter shows 0, replace the engine control unit.
