Camshaft position sensor for 1.4L, 55 and 74 kW engines
1 – sensor; 2 - connecting block
Examination
1. Check battery voltage first. It must be at least 11.5 V.
2. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).
3. Disconnect block 2 (see fig. Camshaft position sensor for 1.4L, 55 and 74 kW engines) with wires from sensor 1.
4. Connect a voltmeter to pins 1 and 3 of block 2.
5. Turn on the ignition. The voltmeter should show a voltage of at least 4.5 V.
6. If the voltmeter shows 0, check the wires for an open or short circuit.
7. If there is no open or short circuit in the wires, and the voltmeter shows a voltage of at least 4.5 V, replace the camshaft position sensor.
8. If there is no open or short circuit in the wires, and the voltmeter shows 0, replace the engine control unit.
