Checking the gravity valve (Skoda Fabia 6Y)

It is more convenient to check the gravity valve with the fuel tank removed.

1.Unscrew bolt 17 (see figureDetails of the fuel system of a carburetor engine) fasteners and remove the filler neck 18.

2. Disconnect the hose from the gravity valve 19 to the adsorber 21.

3. Bend back the spring clips and lift valve 19 up from the fuel tank filler pipe.

4. Blow air through the valve. In a vertical position the valve should be open, and when tilted at an angle of 45° it should close. If this does not happen, then the valve is faulty and needs to be replaced.
