Fuel filter for a 1.9L, 74kW diesel engine vehicle

Diesel engine
The fuel filter on a vehicle with a diesel engine is installed in the engine compartment.
Valve 4 is attached to the fuel filter (see the figure Fuel filter of a car with a 1.9 L, 74 kW diesel engine) fuel heating. On the upper flange of the filter, near the fittings for connecting the fuel hoses, there are arrows stamped showing which fittings the fuel supply and drain hoses are connected to.
In addition, the direction of fuel flow is indicated by arrows on the fuel hoses and on the fuel heating valve. The fuel filter is of a non-separable design and cannot be repaired.
1. Disconnect fuel hoses 2 and 6 from filter fittings 7.
2. Remove retainer 3 of the fuel heating valve.
3. Remove fuel heating valve 4 without disconnecting the hoses from it and move the valve to the side.
4. Press down the three plastic latches 1 and remove the fuel filter 2 upwards from the bracket 3. Note that the filter can only be removed and inserted in one position, as shown in the figure.
5. Install the new filter in reverse order, first filling it with clean fuel. The tightening torque of the diesel engine fuel filter bracket mounting bolt is 25 Nm.
Gasoline engine
In a car with a gasoline engine, the fuel filter is attached to the fuel tank, at the bottom of the car.
Into the fuel filter 7 (see figure Details of the fuel system of a carburetor engine) a fuel pressure regulator is built in.
The arrow on the filter housing shows the direction of fuel flow. Two fittings on the filter flange on the fuel pump side are used to connect the fuel pipes. The fuel supply pipe is connected to the fitting in the center of the flange (black color), to the fitting on the edge of the flange - fuel return drain pipe (blue color).
1. Disconnect fuel lines 6, 11 and 12 from filter 7 by pressing the tube clamp buttons. Since the fuel in the tubes is under pressure, cover the tube connections with rags and remove the tubes from the filter fittings gradually.

2. Unscrew the mounting screw 8 and remove the fuel filter 7.
3. Install the new fuel filter in reverse order. In this case, the arrow on the filter housing should point towards the engine.
