Removal the outer hinge, complete

Remove the propeller shaft. Remove the protective cuff. Remove the protective sleeve of the joint and separate the cardan shaft joint with a strong blow from a plastic hammer.

Remove the retaining ring. Remove the disc spring and thrust ring from the driveshaft.

Installation of the outer hinge, complete

Install a new protective cuff on the propeller shaft. Install the disc spring "1" and thrust ring "2" on the propeller shaft. Maintain correct assembly position. Insert a new retaining ring into the driveshaft spline. Using a plastic hammer, carefully tap the joint onto the drive shaft until the spring retaining ring stops springing. Lubricate the hinge and protective cuff - Symbol identifying the position of the illustration. Install the protective cuff on the outer hinge. Build in the cardan shaft.

Important: Tensioning can only be done with a collet chuck, as the protective cuff is made of a hard material (compared to rubber) and therefore it is necessary to use a stainless steel clamp. Tightening torque: 20 Nm. Check that the thread of the screw "A" of the collet clamp moves easily. Lubricate with grease if necessary. In the case of a stiff screw, for example due to contamination of the thread, it is impossible to achieve the required tension of the clamping (clamping) clamp at the specified tightening torque.

Tighten the clamp on the outer hinge (large diameter). Install the collet chuck as shown in the figure. Make sure the jaws of the collet chuck fit into the corners of the clamping clamp (arrow B). Tighten the clamp by turning the screw with a wrench with the specified tightening torque. In this case, the collet clamp must not be allowed to become distorted.

Tighten the clamp on the smaller diameter.

Removal the inner joint

Remove the propeller shaft. Release the tension clamp. Remove the protective cuff from the hinge using a mandrel. Remove the retaining ring from the propeller shaft. Press the joint out of the cardan shaft. Support the ball joint. Remove the driveshaft disc spring.

Installing the inner hinge

Install disc spring "1" onto the propeller shaft. Maintain correct assembly position. Install a new protective cuff on the propeller shaft.

Important: Chamfer (beveled edge) on the inner diameter of the hub (splined connection) should be directed towards the cardan shaft belt.

Place a new snap ring on the drive shaft. To do this, you should use pliers for installing snap rings. Lubricate the edge of the inner protective cuff cap with sealing agent "D 454 300 A2". Install the protective cuff on the hinge.
