Checking the expansion tank cap (Skoda Fabia 6Y)

The release valve installed in the expansion tank cap maintains the pressure within specified limits and prevents damage to system components. A cap with a defective valve must be replaced.

1. Remove cover 4 (see figure Radiator of the cooling system) expansion tank.

2. Clean the inside surface of the lid from dirt.

3. Place the plug on the tester, which is a hand-operated piston pump with a pressure gauge.

4. Use the tester pump to increase the pressure to 0.12 MPa. The pressure should not decrease within 10 seconds.

5. Increase the pressure to 0.15 MPa: the release valve should open, release the pressure to 0.12 MPa and close.
