1.9L 74kW Diesel Engine EGR System Parts

Checking the valve

1. Remove the engine cover (see subsection 2.1).

2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from valve fitting 4 (see figure Details of the recirculation system of a 1.9 L, 74 kW diesel engine) recirculation system.

3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air duct from the throttle body 3.

4. Connect to valve fitting 1 (see figure Checking the EGR valve of a 1.9L, 74 kW diesel engine) vacuum pump 5.

5. Use a pump to create a vacuum in the valve. Valve stem 4 should move upward and, after disconnecting the vacuum pump, return to its original position. Otherwise, the valve is faulty and must be replaced.

Removal and installation of recirculation system components

The exhaust gas recirculation valve, installed on the throttle body, is a non-separable structure with it. The valve can only be replaced together with the throttle body.

1. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).

2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from valve fitting 4 (see figure Details of the recirculation system of a 1.9 L, 74 kW diesel engine) recirculation systems.

3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air duct from the throttle body 3.

4. Unscrew the two bolts 8 securing the connecting pipe 11 to the throttle body 3.

5. Unscrew three bolts 5 of the fastening and remove the throttle body 3 with the valve 4.

6. To remove the connecting pipe 11, unscrew the two nuts 10 that secure it to the exhaust manifold.

7. Replace gaskets 7 and sealing ring 2 regardless of their condition.

8. Install the EGR system components in reverse order. Replace nuts 10 securing the connecting pipe to the exhaust manifold with new ones. Lubricate the exhaust manifold studs with graphite grease.
