Attention! ABS wires are shielded and cannot be repaired
This section describes how to replace the front wheel sensor wires. Since replacing the rear wheel sensor wires requires a special tool and wire connectors, it is recommended that this work be performed at a service station.
1. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).
2. On 1.9L 74kW diesel models, remove the boost air duct and the hose between the engine inlet pipe and the upper air duct.
3. Pull out the lock 2 (see Fig. Disconnecting the connector from the ABS control unit) pads and, pulling upwards, disconnect pad 3 from control unit 1.
4. Pry with a screwdriver 2 (see Fig. Removing the cover of the junction block), remove the cover of the 3rd shoe.
5. Using a screwdriver 3 (see Fig. Disconnecting the wiring harness from the ABS control unit connector) move the purple lock 2 in the direction indicated by the arrow to release the wires in the connector.
6. Disconnect the wiring harness.
7. Push the corresponding wires out of the block. The contact numbers are shown in Fig. Numbering of contacts (1–42) of the ABS control unit connector block and in the table. Circuits connected to the contacts of the socket.
8. Remove the appropriate wheel.
9. Disconnect connector 1 (see fig. Fastening the front wheel speed sensor wire) with wires from the wheel speed sensor.
10. Remove wire 3 from holders 2.
11. Install the wire in reverse order.
12. After securing the wire in the holders, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and left to make sure that the wire is not stretched or caught on anything.
13. When connecting the wire to the control unit connector, make sure that the wire insulation is inserted all the way into the connector hole. Secure the wiring harness braid with new clamps.
