Important: After installing the camshaft, do not start the engine for approx. 30 minutes. The hydraulic tappets should settle. After completing work on the valve timing mechanism, carefully crank the engine at least 2 revolutions to ensure that none of the valves will touch the piston crown during starting. Replace O-rings and seals.
1 - Cylinder head, additional processing of valve seats 2 -; 2 - Bearing insert, observe the assembly position, do not mix up already used bearing inserts (mark them), ensure that the retaining tabs are correctly inserted into the bearing caps and into the cylinder head; 3 - Camshaft, radial clearance wear limit: 0.11 mm, runout: more than 0.04 mm; 4 - Bearing insert, observe the assembly position, do not mix up already used bearing inserts (mark them), ensure that the retaining tabs are correctly inserted into the bearing caps and into the cylinder head; 5 - Bearing cover, seal cover 1 and 5 with sealing agent "D 454 300 A2"; 6 - 8 Nm + turn an additional 90° (1/4 turn), replace; 7 - 20 Nm + turn an additional 90° (1/4 turn), replace, follow the sequence when loosening and tightening; 8 - Rocker arm support, do not mix up (mark), follow the sequence when loosening and tightening; 9 - Washer, for cylinder head mounting screws, insert into the cylinder head before installing the bearing caps; 10 - Hydraulic plate tappet, do not confuse (mark), put it down with the working surface down, before starting installation, check the axial clearance of the camshaft, lubricate the working surfaces with oil; 11 - Valve checks; 12 - Valve spring plate; 13 - Valve spring, outer; 14 - Valve spring, internal; 15 - Valve stem seal; 16 - Valve guide bushing; 17 - Pump-injector unit; 18 - Sealing ring; 19 - Valves, do not adjust, only grinding is allowed
