1. Remove the battery and its mounting bracket.
2. Disconnect both cables 2 and 3 (see figure Disconnecting the drive cables from the gearbox levers of type 002) from the levers on the gearbox. To do this, using wrench 1 as a lever, remove the cable ends from the ball joints 4 of the levers.
3. Unscrew three bolts 1 (see figure Gearbox Drive Cable Bracket Mountings Type 002) fastening the bracket of 2 cables to the gearbox.
4. Remove the gear shift lever handle with boot (see subsection 7.1.2.4).
5.Carefully pry off the trim 5 with a screwdriver (see figureGear shift boot mounting parts) floor console.
6. Unscrew the two 1 nuts of the front fastening of the 2 gear shift mechanism housing.
7. Unscrew eight nuts 5 (see figure Connecting sleeve of the exhaust pipe on models with a type 002 gearbox) fastenings and remove crossbar 6.
8. Having loosened the tightening of the clamping bolts 3 of the fastening clamps of the connecting sleeve 2, disconnect the inlet pipe 1 from the resonator 4 of the exhaust system.
9. Disconnect the resonator from the suspension mounting cushion 7.
10. Disconnect the intake pipe 17 (see figure Exhaust system of the 1.0L, 37 kW and 1.4L, 50 kW engines and drawing Exhaust system of the 1.4 l, 55 and 74 kW engine) from pillows 8.
11. Remove the heat-insulating screen 8 (see figure Connecting sleeve of the exhaust pipe on models with a type 002 gearbox).
12. Unscrew bolt 16 (see figure Gear shift mechanism parts) fastenings of housing 14 of the gear shift mechanism and remove the gear shift drive from the vehicle.
13. Replace damaged or heavily compressed sealing gasket 11. Gasket 11, made with an adhesive layer, is glued to the gearshift mechanism housing.
14. Install the gear shift drive in reverse order. Before connecting the cables to the levers, lubricate the bushings 2 of the ends with a thin layer of grease, avoiding the grease getting on the seal of the end 1. After installation, adjust the gear shift drive.
