1. Remove the upper engine cover (see subsection 2.1).

2. Disconnect connector 1 with wires from camshaft position sensor 2.
3. Turn on the ignition. Measure the voltage by connecting a voltmeter between terminal 1 of the connector and the engine ground, and then between terminal 3 and the positive terminal of the battery; in both cases, the voltmeter should show the battery voltage.
4. Otherwise, check the wires for open circuits and short circuits. If the wires are OK, the voltage is as specified, and the engine does not run normally, replace the camshaft position sensor. If the wires are OK and the voltmeter shows 0, replace the engine control unit.
