Caution: Make sure that no brake fluid enters the plug connector of the hydraulic control unit. The fact is that otherwise the contacts corrode, resulting in device failure. If the plug connector is dirty, it must be thoroughly cleaned with a jet of compressed air. Do not bend the brake lines in the area near the hydraulic control unit.

Disconnect the battery. Remove the engine cover.

Remove the upper charge air pipe "1" with the connecting hose "2".

After pressing the brake pedal, secure it using a brake pedal holding device.

Place the air bleeder hose onto the air bleed valve of the left front wheel disc brake caliper and open the air bleed valve. Once the brake fluid stops leaking, close the air bleed valve. Disconnect the hose from the air bleed valve. Place a sufficient amount of non-shedding cloths under and around the hydraulic control unit.

Unlocking a multi-pin plug connector

The release of the multi-pin connector is described for ABS BOSCH 8.0. For ABS/ASR and ABS/ASR/ESP BOSCH 8.0, the procedure is identical. Unlock the multi-pin plug connector "1". Slide the red lock "2" until it stops in the direction of the arrow.

Fold lever "1" all the way in the direction of the arrow. Disconnect plug connector "2" from the ABS control unit "J104". Close the housing of the plug connector of the ABS control unit "J104" with the cap.

Unscrew the brake lines from the hydraulic control unit.

Remove, if necessary, the brake lines from the holder. Mark the brake lines "1...6". Unscrew the brake lines "1...6" from the hydraulic control unit. Block the brake lines. Seal the hydraulic line connections on the hydraulic control device using the plugs from the spare parts kit.

ABS/ASR/ESP BOSCH 8.0, acc.

Remove, if necessary, the brake lines from the holder. Mark the brake lines "1...6". Unscrew the brake lines "1...6" from the hydraulic control unit. Block the brake lines.

Seal the hydraulic line connections on the hydraulic control device using the plugs from the spare parts kit. Remove the hydraulic control unit. Removing the hydraulic control unit is described on the ABS/ASR/ESP unit. Removing the ABS or ABS/ASR unit is the same as removing the ABS/ASR/ESP unit. Loosen nut "4" from holder "3." Unscrew nut "6." Lift the BOSCH 8.0 ABS, ABS/ASR, or ABS/ASR/ESP hydraulic control unit "1" with holders "2" and "3.".

Installation

Important: New hydraulic control units are filled with hydraulic fluid and de-aerated. The shut-off plugs on the hydraulic device should be removed only before installing the brake lines. If the locking plugs on the hydraulic control unit are removed prematurely, brake fluid may leak out and, therefore, in such a case it is impossible to guarantee sufficient filling of the system and satisfactory bleeding of air from it.

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of actions, and the following instructions must be observed.

Caution: Ensure that the brake line channels are correctly aligned. Mixing brake lines results in dangerous brake force adjustments.

Connecting the brake lines. Ensure the multi-pin connector on the ABS control unit "J104" is properly secured. Remove the brake pedal support. Bleed the brake system. Code the ABS control unit "J104" using a diagnostic tool. After removing the air, a test run should be carried out with at least one activation of the ABS device.
