Important: The tie rod can only be removed and installed on a removed power steering gear housing.
Remove the power steering gear housing. Clean the outside of the power steering housing in the area around the cuff (corrugated cover). After opening the clamp and spring clip, move the cuff back.
Important: When removing and installing the right tie rod link, it is necessary to open the clamp and spring clip on the left cuff (corrugated cover) and move the cuff back. The reason is that when loosening and tightening the steering rod, you need to hold the rod on the left side of the toothed rack.
Unscrew the tie rod "1" from the toothed rack "2". While loosening, hold the toothed rack of the power steering gear "2" on the left side with an open-end wrench "3".
Installation
Screw the tie rod into the steering gear housing rack. Tighten the tie rod "1" onto the power steering rack "2". For this, use a torque wrench with an extension for an open-end wrench SW (OE) 32. While tightening, hold the power steering rack on the left side with an open-end wrench "3".
Unscrew the tie rod end from the tie rod. Check that the cuff is not worn (cracked) and that the sealing surfaces for the cuff are clean. If the cuff is damaged, replace it.
Important: Use only original clamps and spring clips.
Place the cuff on the tie rod (corrugated cover), pressure drain and spring clamp. Screw the tie rod end onto the tie rod. Adjust the tie rod so that the tie rod end journal is in the assembly position. Surfaces for adhering the corrugated cover (recesses) should be lubricated with EN-0042 grease, material no. N 052 721 00 (quantity: 0.8 g). Install the corrugated cover (cuff). Under no circumstances should the corrugated cover be installed twisted or turned. Use hose clamps to tighten the clamp.
Install the spring clamp using pliers. Install the power steering gear housing. Take measurements of the vehicle.
