Important: The following points must be met to ensure correct adjustment of the gear shift mechanism. The gearshift controls and the transmission of gearshift movements are in perfect condition. Easy operation of the gear shift mechanism. The gearbox, clutch and clutch control drive are normal. The gearbox is set to neutral position.
Remove the air filter. Remove the battery and battery holder. Pull the locking mechanism of the Bowden cable drive of the gear shift and the Bowden cable drive of the pre-selective gear shift control device forward until it stops in the direction of arrow 1, then lock it to the left in the direction of arrow 2.

Fix the gear shift control shaft in the following manner. Press the gearshift control shaft downwards in the direction of arrow 1. While pressing the gearshift control shaft, turn lever A in the direction of arrow 2, while simultaneously gently pushing it inwards until it locks into place in the gearshift control shaft.

Using the disassembly wedge "3409", release the cover from the middle panel casing (protruding part of the floor between the front seats) in the direction of the arrows. By pressing, move the gear shift lever, which is in the neutral position, to the left side into the 1st and 2nd gear track.

Insert the locking mandrel through hole "A" into hole "B".

Turn the locking mechanism on the Bowden cable drive of the gear shift and the Bowden cable drive for the pre-selective gear shift control device until it stops in the direction of the "arrow".

The spring returns the locking mechanism to its original position.

Turn handle "A" to its original "arrow" position. Remove the locking mandrel from holes "A" and "B". Insert the cover into the rear panel casing (protruding part of the floor between the front seats).

Mode of action
The gear shift lever is in neutral position in the track between 3rd and 4th gears. Depress the clutch pedal. Turn on all gears several times. Particular attention should be paid to whether the reverse gear lock is working properly. If any of the gears slips when re-engaging, then the clearance (play) of the gear shift control shaft must be checked in the following manner. Engage 1st gear. Press the gear shift lever all the way to the left and release it again. At the same time, observe the gear shift control shaft on the gearbox (with the involvement of a second mechanic), when moving the gear lever, shift shaft travel must be about 1 mm "arrow". Otherwise, adjust the gearshift mechanism.
