Position for assembling the gear shift mechanism

Important: To perform work in the engine compartment, it is necessary to disconnect the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle. Before disconnecting the battery in vehicles with a car radio equipped with an anti-theft jamming code, you must know this code. After disconnecting and then reconnecting the wire connecting the battery terminal to the ground (body) of the vehicle, some additional work must be performed. To change the Bowden cables, the gear shift mechanism must be removed. Do not kink Bowden cables.

1 - Gear shift lever head, with boot, the gear shift lever ball head and boot cannot be separated from each other, always replace together; 2 - Middle panel (protruding part of the floor between the front seats)

Removal the boot from the gear shift lever

Using the disassembly wedge "3409", release the cover from the middle panel casing (protruding part of the floor between the front seats) in the direction of the arrows. Unscrew the boot through the gear shift lever head.

Turn the stopper "arrow A" in the direction of "arrow B" and remove the gear shift lever head together with the boot.

Installation

Turn the inside of the cover inside out. After installing the gearshift lever knob together with the boot, secure it with the stopper "arrow A" opposite the direction of "arrow B." When installing the knob onto the gearshift lever, ensure that the knob locks into the groove around the gearshift lever.

Important: The areas under the bushings and sliding surfaces must be lubricated with grease

1 - Retaining ring; 2 - Compression spring; 3 - Seal, between the gearshift housing and the body, self-adhesive, glued to the housing; 4 - Gear shift lever; 5 - Gear shift housing; 6 - Cover, for removal purposes, straighten the tabs first, replace; 7 - Bushing; 8 - Cable drive for the preselective gear shift control device, to the preselective gear shift control crank; 9 - Bowden cable drive for gear shifting, mounted on the gear shift lever guide; 10 - 23 Nm, 4 pcs.

Removal and installation the retaining ring

To remove and install the retaining ring "A", pull the gearshift lever in the direction of arrow "A", while simultaneously compressing the spring in the direction of arrow "B" with a screwdriver until it stops.

Important: The slot for the retaining ring in the gear shift lever must be visible. Carefully release the spring.

Important: The areas under the bushings and sliding surfaces must be lubricated with grease "G 000 450 02".

1 - Bowden cable drive for gear shifting, mounted on the gear shift lever guide; 2 - Cable drive for the preselective gear shift control device, on the preselective gear shift control knee lever; 3 - Bushing; 4 - Retaining ring, make sure not to damage the Bowden cable drives when removing, always replace; 5 - Gear shift housing; 6 - Flexible roller counter support (bowden cables).; 7 - Bushing; 8 - Spacer sleeve; 9 - 20 Nm, 3 pcs, for counter-support of flexible rollers (bowden cables); 10 - Flexible roller fixing device (bowden cable), for cable drive (Bowden) of the preselective gear shift control device; 11 - Flexible roller fixing device (bowden cable), for cable drive (Bowden) gear shifting; 12 - Retaining ring, always replace; 13 - Bushing; 14 - Preselector lever; 15 - Crawler; 16 - Gear shift lever (gearbox control lever), with a gas mask, install it so that the place with the gap in the teeth fits into the gear shift control shaft; after installation, adjust the gear shift mechanism; 17 - 20 Nm, always replace; 18 - Retaining ring, always replace
